So it's been two weeks since coming home
from 'paradise' and I still can't get over that place! I miss being there so much...I miss
being on vacation from work, waking up to the warm sun EVERY morning. I missed
actually sitting down to meals with a family...breakfast and dinner eating on
the patio, looking out at the palm trees and the beach, hearing the waves
against the shore. I miss sitting
out on the beach, tanning, the smell of the sun-tan lotion, reading, listening
to music and hanging out with my cousin....floating around in the warm,
bluuuuuue ocean water or sitting in the waves/walking the beach in search of the
'perfect' shells. I miss the
gorgeous sunset on Captiva, the way the palm trees sillohetted themselves across
the pinks, peaches, and oranges of the sky and setting sun and getting to stand
out on the beach with my cousins, wiggling my toes into the still-warm sand
underneath that cool top layer. I
miss cheering on our hermit crabs at the NASCRAB racing and watching Nate figure
out how to play a kazoo faster than most of the adults there! I miss going out for blizzards and
'cherry dip' at DQ, eating the best shrimp sandwich at the Island Cow, watching
Chris's 10 minutes in Heaven as he ate his prized Coconut fried Grouper
sandwich. I miss me and Jenn's
early morning walks and all the friendly people who smiled and said hello as
they passed along on the path. I miss laying out by the pool in the sun
surrounded by blue sky, palm trees and the reddest Hybiscus flowers I have ever
seen...playing with Dom and Nate in the water. I miss the walk through 'the
Ding'...watching Dom and Nate taking turns riding on Chris's shoulders, and the
crow flying into the car as we stood around a screamed! I miss the beautiful
beaches we went to, feeling so relaxed for the first time in
FOREVER, almost forgetting about all the things I
had to come back to that being at home made me miserable just thinking about. I
miss the feeling I got seeing everything for the first time after I had heard
Jenn talk about the places on the Island that they go every year, the feeling
that I got being a part of something, included in a vacation I knew I didn't
have to be invited to go along on, but I was and I am SOOOOO grateful that I got
that chance. I loved spending the
week with my cousins. There really
IS no way to get back to normal life after being to a place like
Sanibel Island..I wish we were back there right
now!
