Captiva
Island -The Place You Will Never Forget!
If you
liked Sanibel for its quiet and secluded style you will love
Captiva
Island. Very private community and
home of some famous people.
It feels like a long drive from Sanibel, but it is just that 35
MPH speed limit. It is just about 5 miles
from 'downtown' of Sanibel.
You wont really see much of open sea till you get to a small bridge
Blind
Pass
Bridge. Then there is a view you were
waiting for. You can park on either side of the bridge and take a walk to the
beach. Only thing you hear is pounding waves and wind. Specially at the evening
or after sunset. I used to stop there in middle of the night on my way back to
the airport. Cab was empty and I was walking the beach totally alone! What a
feeling! Stars above my head and sea roaring I felt like a part of Nature. That
usually made my day.
Once in a while we go to
Captiva
Island with my friends for great
fishing. Captiva
Island was originally part of Sanibel
but was cut of by storm. That created
Blind
Pass. It used to be open for sea
water. And it is closed again after storm some time ago.
North Captiva, is accessible only by ferry or small
plane.
South
Seas Plantation Resort is a 330 acres recreational area in northern tip of the
island. It includes many apartments for rent, golf course, marina and swimming
pools. Oh, did I mention beautiful beaches?
Green Flash is a local restaurant serving the most delicious and fresh
seafood.
Bubble Room is also very famous restaurant of the island. Both are
accessible either by boat or car.
No
McDonald's here!
